Travel Scholarships

Higher education has been in Lund since the studium generale was established in 1438 to teach future pastors. But Lund University wasn’t established until 1666. Its current form, with some 40,000 students and a reputation for excellence in international research, has developed from its humble beginnings, when just a few hundred students and instructors were compensated with meat and grain.
Travel scholarships for Bachelor’s and Master’s students at Lund University are announced in February each year. You can apply for a travel scholarship for a trip in connection with your studies at Lund University. Examples are trips to collect material for a degree project or essay, study abroad, and similar.

Eligibility

You need to submit supporting documents confirming the purpose of your trip. Submit any documents relevant to the type of trip you are planning to make. If your application is incomplete, you may miss out on a scholarship.
The decision to award a travel scholarship is based on the purpose of your trip. Applicants are ranked according to their: grades from Lund University, pace of study and supporting documents.

Benefits

As a rule, amounts of up to SEK 5,000 are awarded per scholarship. Exceptions include the ‘Reg läk dr Hartelius’ stipendiestiftelse’ and ‘Nils Flensburgs resestipendiefond’ funds, where larger amounts may be awarded.

Application
In February 2024, the next application period will open.

After that, you can apply for scholarships for travel that began on March 1, 2023, and for travel that is scheduled to end on February 28, 2025. Please be aware that you can only submit an application for a scholarship during the designated time.

You submit your application via an online form in the application system, where you may also upload any supporting files you wish to send. Since your application will be matched with the scholarships you are eligible for, you should only submit one application per trip.
You will need to enter the approximate cost of your trip in your application.
You must first upload proof of your journey to the application system in order to be eligible for your scholarship. This could be a copy of an admission letter, an invitation letter, grades from the host university, travel documents, etc.
